Appointments
Posted or Updated on 18 Oct 2025
Over the last few months, we have been operating a "Modern Access General Practice Model". This enables us to collect information about any medical or administrative requests, providing the most appropriate care, with the most appropriate professional, in the most appropriate time frame. We understand this change has been challenging for our patients; however, the new system enables us to prioritise your requests rather than an outdated "first come, first serve" system. Due to these changes, we have been able to offer more same day appointments.
From Wednesday 9th July 2025, we have switched to a new triage platform called Anima. This change offers a more streamlined user interface with fewer rejections compared to the previous platform. You can access Anima through our website. This is the preferred and recommended route to contact us. To improve accessibility, we will allow telephone calls to the practice to request appointments. A receptionist will take down the same information as you would enter in the triage system. This information will be reviewed by a GP and you will not be given an appointment during this call. As a result of this change, we expect that our telephone waiting times will increase significantly. We are in the process of acquiring tablets which will be installed in our reception area so appointments can be requested if you do not have access to the internet/computer and do not wish to wait in the telephone queue.
The triage hours will open from 8am until 6:30pm for all requests. GP appointments will be allocated as either urgent (same day) or routine. We will have a minimum of 50 urgent appointments in any given day and if these appointments are all booked, you will receive a message directing you to need to visit your closest urgent treatment centre or A&E. This is to ensure that we deliver care safely. Appointments for our nurses, physiotherapists and clinical pharmacists remain unchanged and can be booked directly with our receptionists. I am grateful for your understanding during these changes.
